Yes, we encourage our tutors to provide PAID trial class upon request. Even if the parents do not explicitly spell it out, the first lesson is generally considered a trial.

If the parents just wanted an interview, depending on the situation, tutors are recommended to choose to meet face-to-face or conduct a 15-30 min Online FREE trial class.

We encourage tutors to conduct their lessons following the lesson schedule planned earlier with their students, except for medical and other sudden emergencies.

If frequent postponement is inevitable, you may wish to communicate with the students to find a solution for both parties to avoid disruption in lessons and misunderstanding.

The same applies if the students make changes to planned lessons, postponements, or cancellations more frequently than you prefer.

In the event of termination, be sure to ensure all parties are informed and be sure you have collected your fees.

It is also important to remember that you are not alone. Many tutors felt uncomfortable when teaching at student's places. Some even experience harassment at some point in their tutoring careers.

Tips on how to deal some situations:

• Naughty Kids - Learn more about the kids' behavior from their parents. Know the kid's psychology. Establish your reward-punishment system to encourage learning.
• Uncomfortable Environment, Allergy to Pets - Let the students or parents know what you need to effectively conduct your lessons. Propose alternatives such as libraries, cafeterias, and other public places that are convenient for both parties.
• Unpleasant Conversation - Stay calm and professional when communicating your message. If you get angry, the person will likely escalate the situation.
• Abusive Language, Intimidating, Sexually Inappropriate Manners, Discriminating based on Race, Gender, or Personal Characteristics - Terminate your lesson IMMEDIATELY and based on the situation, report the incidents to authority.

0 - 50% of the first month's tuition fee as commission.

Refund if the client stops within the first month, or within an agreed number of lessons for Short-Term Assignment

Client will pay all tuition fees directly to the tutor. Tutor must collect the tuition fee from the client.

We DO NOT collect the commission (in tuition fee) directly from clients.

After the client confirms to continue with the tutor after the first lesson, we will send an invoice to the tutor stating the total agency commission to be paid to us.

The tutor must pay the full amount in 30 days starting from the first lesson date. Tutors are obliged to make the payment on time according to our Terms of Service.

Other Scenario:

1. Client stops after the first lesson.

- No commission. If the client stops after the first lesson, it is considered a trial class. If the client continues, it is considered an actual lesson and a commission will apply.

2. Class stops within the first month, or Short-term Assignment stops within the agreed lessons.

- The invoice will be revised with a prorated amount.

3. Changes to Commission (Changes to Tuition Hours, Lessons Frequency)

We do offer free or discounted assignments based on subjects, urgency in the assignment, and for tutor partners who show excellence.

An assignment is only charged if the parent/student prefers TuitionPanda to find the tutors.

The first lesson is considered a trial class by TuitionPanda, whether it is requested or not.

No commission will be charged if a class stops after the first lesson. Tutor to keep the tuition fee.

If the class continues, the first lesson will be considered as actual lesson.

However, multiple fails after the first lesson from the same tutor may affect his/her priorities in subsequent shortlisting.

If this happens, an equivalent percentage of your commission will be refunded based on the number of completed lessons.

Example

You have a student at Orchard, tuition fee at $40/hr, 1.5hrs/lessson, once per week. Assuming 4 weeks in a month, you paid $120 as 50% commission ($40 × 1.5hrs × 2 weeks)

However, the student decided to stop after 2 lesson. Expected 4 lessons

You will receive a refund of 2 ÷ 4 × $120 = $60 back to you in 3 working days.

Scenarios

Case 1: Terminate after 3 lessons, but exceed 1 month (Parent decided to take a 2 week off for vacation in the middle).

Outcome: Proof that only 3 lessons were conducted and the parent indeed postponed the class. Refund after confirmation.

Case 2: Terminate by tutor after 2 lessons due to the tuition place being too far from the tutor's house.

Outcome: No refund for terminations due to tutor reasons (except medical emergency or any reasons deem valid by TuitionPanda). The tutor is supposed to do their due diligence before accepting any tutoring task.

Case 3: I teach 3 subjects (P1 Math & P1 English to 1 kid, P4 Math to another kid) to the family. The parent decided to stop the P1 Math & English after 2 lessons respectively (total 4 lessons conducted).

Outcome: Prorated refund for the terminated subjects.

Short-term tuition happens when students request 8 lessons or 8 weeks worth of lessons for a single subject until a known date (usually the exam day), whichever is higher.

The tuition fee for the student is generally higher due to their urgency.

We collect 10 - 25% of the TOTAL tuition fee as commission.

If the student terminates the lessons before reaching the agreed number of lessons, an equivalent percentage of your commission will be refunded based on the number of completed lessons.
